3 Reasons Why Everyone Should Take Up Wakeboarding

Posted: 12/31/2013 9:26:26 AM by | with 0 comments

1. It's easy to find someone to teach you

Just like when a skier or snowboarder buys the lift ticket and lesson pass to hit the mountain for the first time, there are plenty of people who are great at teaching wakeboarding around the world.  More likely than not, there is someone in your city who coaches the sport so you can learn without picking up any bad habits or bad experiences.

2. You can choose to use a boat

Even if you can't find anyone who owns a boat, you can check out a Cable Park to get started.  Cable Parks are set on small lakes and involve 2-5 towers posted around the lake with around six carrier systems pulling people in circles around the lake.  There are generally ramps and rails in the water that people use for tricks, just like in snowboarding and skateboarding.  Once you fall off, you take a short swim to the shore and line up for another turn.

3. It's a social sport

You get to know your friends well by spending countless hours in the boat with.  These friendships transfer to a large network of people who love boating.  Even better, wherever you are in the world, there is usually someone stoked to take you wakeboarding in their hometown.  It's one really big community.

Which Type of Inboard Should You Buy

Posted: 12/20/2013 6:17:05 AM by | with 0 comments

When it comes to buying an inboard boat, most people are not aware of the options that are available. Since there are two types of inboard boats, V-drive and direct drive, it is best to review their differences in order to determine what is the best fit for your needs.

V-Drive- This type of inboard boat features an automotive V8 engine that is located in the rear of the boat, which allows for a larger wake and will cut through choppy waters with more ease. This type of boat is best when used for water activities like wakeboarding.

Direct Drive- The engines in a direct drive boat are located mid boat and are similar to those in a V-drive since they are automotive V8’s as well. Direct drive boats are the most common type of inboard boat since they are built to create soft, flat waves. This type of boat is ideal for boaters who are looking to do more waterskiing, but can be used for wakeboarding as well.

Since some boaters do not have a preference and are partial to one type of boat versus the other, there are additional accessories that can be purchased in order to help better their boat and specialize it based on their needs. Some of these accessories include the following:

Ballast Systems- These allow for the ability to weigh down the boat in order to create better wake for wakeboarding and wakesurfing.

Wakeboard Towers- These towers work with the wake in order to create more height, allowing for certain tricks to be performed.

Wake Gauges- This is a cool tool to help boaters recreate the perfect wave for each and every ride without having to guess what they did right the first time.

When it comes to inboard boats, there isn’t a right or wrong answer. By seeking help from knowledgeable and professional resources like OnlyInboards, you can rest assured that your investment will best suit your boating needs and guarantee fun for all. Important Boating Safety Tips to Remember

Posted: 12/12/2013 1:42:55 PM by | with 0 comments

So you bought a boat and it’s now time to take her out on the water and see what she can do…but do you know what to do? Especially for first time boaters, it is essential to know how to handle any situation that may occur. Here are several safety tips to remember when taking others out for a day of fun.

1. Make yourself knowledgeable and attend a boating safety course before you hit the water. There are courses for boaters of every age and for every type of boating recreation. With this course, you will learn things such as boat handling skills, reading the weather, and safety instruction. Many of these classes are sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary or offered by state boating agencies. There are also online classes available to those who cannot make a class time.

2. Make sure all boating safety equipment is in good shape.  It is important to ensure that all safety equipment is available for every passenger on the boat, meaning that everyone on board should have access to a lifejacket. Other safety equipment such as anchors, fire suspension devices, and audial and visual warning devices should be installed and in working order.

3. Use a checklist. There are several boating safety checklists that are available for boat owners to use in order to ensure that they have all the required safety materials before making their trips out on the water. Several copies of these checklists should be kept on board for use before every trip. This is good practice to double check all safety equipment is in good repair and available.

4. Have your boat checked. The U.S. Coast Guard recommends that all recreational boats be inspected and checked every year. The Vessel Safety Check program is available to all boat owners and is free of charge. A certified vessel examiner will come out to your boat and perform their inspection to determine if your boat is in compliance with the law. If so, you will receive a VSC decal that alerts all boating law enforcement agencies that your boat was in compliance. If your boat does not pass, you will be given a written report to help you understand what is missing or needs to be corrected. There is no negative action against boat owners who do not pass.

It is imperative to ensure every step has been taken when it comes to the safety and security of your passengers and yourself. By following these safety precautions, you can relax and enjoy the ride!

The Must Have Wakeboard Tower Accessories

Posted: 12/6/2013 6:14:16 AM by | with 0 comments

You just bought the boat of your dreams, now what? In order to enjoy the full benefits of your boating experience, there are several accessories every wakeboard boat owner should invest in.

Bimini Top- If your boat did not already come with one, it is important to invest in one of these. Not only do Bimini tops provide shade from the sun for all the passengers on board, but it also protects everything in your boat, such as the seats and equipment from sun damage. It is necessary to ensure you are purchasing a Bimini top that fits your wakeboard tower. Refer to your tower’s manufacturer to decide on what Bimini top will work best for your particular model.

Gear Racks- Gear racks are space savers and free up additional space that can be used for other necessary items such as ballast bags, life jackets, ropes, etc. Gear racks can be purchased for anything from wakeboards to water-skis, depending on the type of equipment you need to store.

Speakers- Although not everyone needs the ultimate sound system on their boat, I think most would agree that music is a huge motivator for an awesome ride and provides the ultimate backdrop for a fun day on the water. There are many speakers to choose from ranging in various sizes and shapes. Speakers are a sure way to increase the fun and value of your boat!

Tower Lights- If nighttime boating is your thing, then tower lights are a must. Lighting is of utmost importance not only for the safety of yourself and your passengers, but also for other boaters on the water as well. Most often, wakeboard tower speakers will have lights on them as well.

Tower Mirrors- Like the mirrors on car, tower mirrors allow for the driver of the boat to see the wakeboards they are towing behind them and the surrounding waters. These are a matter of convenience and will prevent the driver from constantly turning around checking on the wakeboarder behind them.

Ultimately, wakeboard towers are just the frame-work for your accessories. With these essential additions, you can ensure your boating experience will not only enjoyable, but unforgettable.
